For those of you who have not heard, I am running to be a Barack Obama delegate at this years Democratic National Convention to be held in Denver, Colorado this August. While holding any elected office has not ever been my goal, when the opportunity to run for this seat during this election and for this candidate came about I could not help but get excited. Now, there is no guarantee that I am going to win the nomination, but I am openly optimistic and certainly feel blessed to be given this opportunity.

I am running to represent the residents of the 33rd Congressional District (Congresswoman Diane Watson). While this is not a highly publicized election it is a very important election. As we have all been hearing, this election could very well come down to the convention and to a battle on the floor. We need to make sure that African Americans are represented and make sure we are at the table when the deals are getting cut, and make sure that African Americans are included in every way shape and form.

On the back page of Entertainment you will see a slate of people running to be elected as delegates for the convention. Some are Obama Delegates, others are running to be Clinton Delegates, all of them are capable, educated African Americans who I am confident will represent not only the Democratic party but more importantly our community that we need during these crucial political times.

So turn to the back page of Entertainment and see the slate of African Americans running as delegates in the 33rd, 35th, 37th and 28th Congressional Districts for both Senators Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton. And PLEASE! Show up to vote on Sunday, April 13 at the caucus location listed in your congressional district. Every one of us will have the opportunity to vote for individuals who will serve as delegates at this year’s Democratic National Convention.

And please remember in these Delegates Caucuses it is not about voting for Barack Obama or Hillary Clinton. It is about voting and insuring that African Americans are represented on the floor of the convention to vote and influence those issues that are import to African Americans. We need people who support both OBAMA and CLINTON to show up at these caucuses and vote for DELEGATES. This will insure an overwhelming representation of African Americans on the floor of this historical Democratic Convention.

Both candidates will have a delegate at the convention, so let’s make sure that the delegates representing US, look like Us, think like Us and will represent Us. So, whether you agree or disagree, now more than ever I really need your input. I need to hear from you. I need to know what is going on in our community. I also need to know what other stories we need to tell, and what is on your mind. I really do want to hear from you, I want you to “Talk to Danny.”

God Bless You,
