Image Daniel Jeffrey Nibbs is this state’s first African American to be awarded Eagle Scout of the Year 2007 by the American Legion, Department of California Scouting Commission. He became an eagle scout in 2005 after completing a leadership service project where he planned, organized and supervised a landscaping project that involved numerous volunteers and required approximately 500 hours to complete. Prior to receiving a scout’s highest ranking of eagle, Nibbs held many leadership positions within his boy scout troop including junior assistant scoutmaster and troop musician, both of which he has most recently held, as well as assistant senior patrol leader, patrol leader, librarian and quarter master.

Nibbs is a graduate of Carmichael, California’s Jesuit High School, where he was on the honor roll from 2003-07. He now attends Ohio State University where he will be studying aeronautical engineering/engineering physics in hopes of becoming an astronaut.
