Are You Alive or Just Living

Hello World, I pose this question because I am truly confused about the motives of people today. I still believe the nature of man is positive and the initial energy given from people is positive. In spite of conversations I have with those who lead negative life styles. Negative energy comes from the twisted psychology of those who have allowed the ills of life to affect them in a detrimental way. We are all guilty of this! However, we are all capable of pursuing the positive as oppose to the negative. In other words "free will", we have the choice to be "Alive" or just "Live".

I recited this poem at a speaking engagement in hopes to inspire and add positive energy to the occasion. I offer these words to you with the same intent!

I am Alive.

The grandson of a p.i.m.p, the son of a man who solicited clients to fornicate with a woman, I have not and may never meet. To this day I often hunger for a piece of memory to help me sleep, yet, in spite of not knowing my biological mother, the cycle has been my own to defeat. Should I circum to the offerings of the beast, then lay rest with those whom the cycle has held feast.

I am alive. And my meals consist of fruit that bear no lies or deceit. So take heed, on this day every human being can alter history. The cycle has tasted defeat, I am alive. I am the biological son of an intelligent killer, drug dealer. But the taker of life through supplying ones addiction is not me. I'd rather inspire all to achieve. I am the product of a relationship based on the hustle that filled the veins of my parents with the euphoric moments that kills our love and self respect, causes duress. So, the cycle, I have not broken with my fist, or degrading lyrics that birth an urban myth, but the power of thought "Noesis" which is our heavenly gift. I am alive, and even though a sinner, proud to awaken daily and recognize life as the ultimate prize. If I can break the cycle, imagine you achieving the same, living with pride, happy to be alive.

What is life? A pretentious source of existence, so as to demean your neighbor, or belittlement within materialistic praise; No, that's an idealistic haze. Praise your self so as to live in peace. Acknowledge your peers with no deceit. Smile and recognize life as a cessation of hostilities, cured by conquering your own insecurities.

Are you alive or just living?
