Are the Polls Full of It?

With our current President ratings at an all time low and Americans pleading to end the war in Iraq, there is no reason why presumptive Democratic candidate Barack Obama does not have a double-digit lead in the polls.

The only explanation for this travesty is that many White Americans are still holding on to their prejudice when it comes to a man of color.

Amazing isn’t it that Barack Obama can got to Germany and draw more than 250,000 Germans, be well received in the middle east and generously received in Israel.

This is a man who represents everything that is good about America, but the fact that he is Black is causing many Whites to ignore his principals even if those values reflect their’s.

Thus, the responsibility rest with us once again to make sure that such an enormous opportunity is not wasted.

Each and everyone of you who are registered to vote should got out and encourage your friends to register. Have gatherings with your block parties and social clubs and make sure that each one of you are responsible for voting for the only person who can save a country that is in great despair.

Any vote for John McCain is a vote for Bush and the past eight years have been a nightmare for this country.

We cannot flinch on this one. Wearing the Obama T-shirts and caps are nice, but taking your pledge to the ballot box is critical. This could conceivably be the one election that could change the future for our children.

Let us not take for granted our responsibility to vote. Too many have died for us to have this right, and we owe it to our past and future to exercise this right. Barack Obama or bust.

So, whether you agree or disagree, now more than ever I really need your input. I need to hear from you. I need to know what is going on in our community. I also need to know what other stories we need to tell, and what is on your mind. I really do want to hear from you, I want you to “Talk to Danny.”

Sincerely,
Danny J. Bakewell, Jr.

The white owned media is so very biased and even the best commentators still have residual racism in their reporting most of the time. When CNN still uses subliminal suggestions and has the audacity to interview anglos in a small all white town in the deep south, what do we expect. When I hear those southerners say his name doesn't sound anglo saxon---therefore he is most likely Muslim (not that it would really matter) what do we expect. We must do everything we can to make sure that he is elected, because 4 years of McCain will cause the housing crises to not only continue along with the war in Iraq, but we send us all into bankruptcy. Lets all ban together, people of color, and we can make sure he is elected. He really is the best candidate many of us have seen since Kennedy and that's the real truth. But it all depends on us.

Danny it is difficult to communicate with you. you say that " I really do want to hear from you" yet you do NOT list your email address in your printed or online column. Suggestion. List your email address instead of just your website.

I also think that you do not give your readers a "balanced" opinion page. Now that I am reading your newspaper, it is obvious that your newspaper is very liberal and pro- black. In order to really give your audience, black readers a full and balanced educational and journalistic viewpoint, you need to do more "reporting" the news instead of being biased and slanted in your news content. Taking a slant on the Opinion page is your business, but in the newshole sections of your paper???
Regarding your Opinion Page, why do you not run Thomas Sowell or Star Parker?
Your readers should be given the opportunity to see a balanced side and not the liberal view only. This is the 21st century.
Look forward to "hearing back from you"
