CNS - Actress Angela Bassett and husband Courtney B. Vance put their compound near Hancock Park on the market for close to $6 million, it has been reported.

The couple, who became the parents of twins via a surrogate last year, said they wanted to move from the gated Fremont Place community to an area where the children eventually would attend public schools.

Reportedly, the property, where the two have lived for the past decade, includes a 5,000-square-foot main house built in 1940, with five bedrooms and six baths; a gourmet kitchen; and a 2,500-square-foot office/guesthouse/gym.

Bassett, 48, is probably best known for her role playing Tina Turner opposite Laurence Fishburne in “Akeelah and the Be” (2006). She also appeared opposite Whoopi Goldberg in “How Stella Got Her Groove Bac” (1998).

The Yale School of Drama graduate also has appeared on and off Broadway, as has her husband, who earned his master’s in fine arts at Yale after graduating from Harvard with a bachelor’s degree.

Vance is probably best known for his five-year run on NBC’s “Law & Order: Criminal Intent.”

The pair co-wrote a book about themselves called”Friends: A Love Story” which was released this year.
