Over the weekend Los Angeles experienced the best shoot out I have ever seen in my life and I welcome many more. Over the past weekend we had a chance to take several high risk youth over to the chino hills paintball park in which we had the swans, the east coast crips, 51 trouble gang 73 hustlers, f-13’s and a host of other so called high risk youth out for a day of fun and shooting paintball guns and showing them how to get along with other people. It was amazing to see the children ages 14 and up playing and being excited about being away from the hood and the dangers of inner city life. How can adults teach children to hate in the way that they do, is my question.

I truly don’t believe that the kids want to be involved with that type of crazy behavior. When I walk around school campuses I see both Black and Brown children hugging on one another and playing. That is why I can’t bite into this whole thing about why we can’t get along. It is a new day in America and it is time for us to act like we want change.

Let us get more involved in the lives of these kids. Trying to figure this whole “gangster” thing out is starting to take its toll on our youth. Honestly to me gang banging has grown up now and it has grandchildren to raise. So if you are still banging and you are over the age of twelve then you are not a banger. You are just hating life.

I was walking down the street the other day when I saw a grown man with a child walking along side him while he sprayed f-13 on the wall. I stopped to talk to him about his actions and how someone would get killed for some thing that small. He explained to me that his old ladies had just got on his case about being from a hood and not having a job.

He stated to me that getting a job was impossible with those gang tattoos. So I took him to our office and my supervisor Kenneth Valentine interviewed him for the purpose of work. When I stopped the young man and talked to him the only place to park was in front of a church. As we talked the young man said to me that this had to be God out to help change his life. Consequently he is the brother in law of a person from Florence 13 that we hired and the young person that was with this new guy was looking up to his uncle because he had accepted the challenge to change. Nothing beats a bullet like a job.

I will never give up on young people as long as I got air in my body! Because I understand what it is like to have no hope and live in the hood. People, this is a learning lesson for all of us to take notice of. We have to take the babies somewhere else in the town. I don’t care what color or economic background a child comes from we have a responsibility to look out for that child. Because the children belong to God. And the summer belongs to the children.
