The City of Inglewood will receive $3.4 million in federal funds from the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). These funds will be used to continue programs that address affordable housing needs, assist homeless persons, provide adequate infrastructure-including street and sidewalk repairs, address fair housing issues, and support programs that enhance civic/community design, protection of environment, neighborhood preservation and economic development.

Community meetings will be held to obtain citizen input on how the City of Inglewood should allocate these federal funds. Citizens are invited to participate in these meetings to learn more about the City’s community development programs, make comments or suggestions, and voice concerns. Community meetings will be held as follows:

May 12, 7:00 p.m.
City Hall, Community Room, 1st Floor–One W. Manchester Blvd. Inglewood, CA 90301

May 14, 10:30 a.m. & 7:00 p.m.
Inglewood Senior Center (Veteran’s Building)–
330 Centinela Avenue
Inglewood, CA 90302 *

May 15, 7:00 p.m.
Police Community Center
2666 West Imperial Hwy. Inglewood CA 90303

May 17, 10:30 a.m.
Police Community Center
129 West Arbor Vitae Blvd. Inglewood , CA 90301
* Temporary Location for the Inglewood Senior Center

Participation at these community meetings is your opportunity to ensure that your voice is heard regarding how the City of Inglewood allocates FY 2008-2009 federal community development funds.

For those unable to attend community meetings, you may complete the survey provided in this issue of the Bulletin or complete the survey on line at www.cityofinglewood.org - keyword - Survey. You may also send your comments to the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Division at One Manchester Blvd. 7th Floor, Inglewood, CA 90301.

Request for Proposals (RFPs) will be available to organizations interested in receiving funds beginning on April 10, 2008. For additional information, or if special accommodations are needed, please contact the Community Development Block Grant Division at (310) 412-8844, TTY (800) 735-2929 or (en Español) (800) 855-3000, or visit the City website at www.cityofinglewood.org.

I can't make the meeting because of work. If someone would carry an idea for me that would be great!

How about credit report and mortgage training for high school students! Our next generation will be least likely to be a part of anything SUB-prime!

Have rich people volunteer and hire smart young people to keep the kids interested.

Tease them with real estate profits and low interest rates. They all want nice cars! Tell them they can buy them with good credit and real estate money. Have Wanda Brown get involved.

No one thinks about young people anymore. We only use band aids, not check ups. Think ahead, Inglewood!
