Right now I am caught up in the essence of history. Never in my wildest dreams did I think that it would happen, but I have always held out hope that a Black man could become President.

Now that Barack Obama has been nominated and he has accepted the Democrats nomination for President of The United States, the dream is a reality.

This is the byproduct of a lifelong struggle that many African Americans have endured from the era of slavery to the modern civil rights movement and it is proof that even against the most insurmountable odds that a Black person can achieve anything in America.

However, this long enduring struggle is just at the most potent beginning, because now the hard part takes fold.

Obama’s victory to get to this point was incredible in itself. He had to dethrone the powerful political empire of the Clinton family and if not for Black people, that family would not have relished the success that it did.

So, now we have to turn out in even greater numbers and an even greater show of force than we ever had before.

This is not an election for just the next four years, but well beyond that and like Hillary Clinton stated during her speech this is an election for the future of our children and our grandchildren.

The Obama family is a model Black family and his wife Michelle will be a fantastic First Lady.

How ironic is it that the one group of people who have for many years been on the outside looking in will be the group of people that can bring this nation together as one.

From the slave ship to segregation. From cotton fields to battle fields. From the outhouse to the White House.

This is our special moment in time. This is our time to stand up and exercise the rights that many have died for us to have. This is our time to vote for the first Black President of The United States of America. This is our time to vote for Barack Obama.

So, whether you agree or disagree, now more than ever I really need your input. I need to hear from you. I need to know what is going on in our community. I also need to know what other stories we need to tell, and what is on your mind. I really do want to hear from you, I want you to “Talk to Danny.”
