Cyrus Theodore Greene was born on December 18, 1927 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Born the middle child of Bessie Mae Hawkins and Cyrus T. Greene Sr., Cyrus grew up in a loving household with his sister Roxanna, and brother John. Cyrus graduated from Ohio State University Medical School in 1953 and practiced in the 8th district at 4319 Leimert Boulevard for 40 years as a general surgeon.

He served as Chief of Surgery at Centinela Hospital for seven years and served on the original committee and planning team to form Martin Luther King Jr. Hospital. He spent his career serving patients at hospitals such as Centinela, Brotman Memorial, Daniel Freeman, University Hospital, Robert F. Kennedy, Morningside, and Martin Luther King Jr.

On June 10, the Los Angeles City Council adjourned their meeting in his memory and honored him with a special resolution recognizing his service in the great city of Los Angeles.

Greene is survived by his wife Rose M. Greene; his sister Roxana and his children and grandchildren: Elaine, Kimberly, Christine, Cyrus D, Kaelan, Mariana, Grant, Giselle, Milahn, Dana, Sybil, Gregory, and Everett; as well as his nieces and nephews Roxana, Tisha, Robert, Cyrus B. and Stacey. Cyrus T. Greene passed away on June 5, 2008. He led a good and rich life. God Bless Cyrus Greene.
