The family of 17-year-old Jamiel Shaw, a local football player who was gunned down by two gang members on Sunday, March 2, refutes claims by LA-based activist Najee Ali that he is the Shaw Family's spokesperson or a representative of the Shaw Family.

The Shaw Family informs all media and members of the community that the press conference scheduled by Mr. Ali for this afternoon is not authorized nor recognized by the Shaw Family and the family denies any and all claims or representations made during the press conference my Mr. Ali.

The Shaw Family requests that any and all claims by Mr. Ali as its "spokesperson" be disregarded. It further requests that all questions and concerns regarding Jamiel Shaw and the Shaw Family be directed to Trivia, the first cousin of Jamiel Shaw, Sr., at (323) 301-0264.

The Shaw Family regrets that during its time of mourning the passing of its beloved son, Jamiel, that it must give attention to disputing Mr. Ali's claims, however it is necessary to protect the family.
