CNS - Several people were arrested by a sheriff’s SWAT team in Carson, last Thursday in connection with an incident in which shots were fired at a sheriff’s helicopter with two bullets striking the chopper.

A Los Angeles County Sheriff’s helicopter responding to reports of a robbery was fired on and struck by two bullets but landed safely, authorities said. The shooting occurred around 11 p.m. Wednesday May 21, said Sgt. Carol Rogers of the Los Angeles County Sheriff Department’s Carson Station. The aircraft “was up in the air” when a gunman fired at it several times, prompting the pilot to make an unscheduled landing at the sheriff’s Carson Station for inspection, she said.

One bullet struck the belly of the chopper and another hit the tail area, but no one was hurt, Rogers said. Following the shooting, deputies in riot gear surrounded a residence located near the Harbor Gateway section of Los Angeles, On Scene Video and Newsreel camera crews reported from the site. Authorities did not immediately provide details on the robbery or comment on the reported Harbor Gateway-area deployment.
