The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) will host a Traffic Safety Fair for residents of Southern Los Angeles on September 15 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., at Audubon Middle School, located at 4120 11th Avenue in Los Angeles .

“Still Saving Lives” is the theme the South Traffic Division, Community Traffic Safety Unit (CTSY) has adopted to spread the knowledge of traffic safety where individuals live and work. A broad range of safety-conscious elected officials, public agencies, local organizations and other entities are expected to participate in order to enhance the information and safety awareness material provided by the Safety Fair.

In addition to the LAPD and Los Angeles Fire Department representatives, the Los Angeles mayor’s office and city council members as well as representatives from the California Highway Patrol, the Los Angeles Unified School Police Department, the Automobile Club of Southern California (AAA), the Los Angeles Department of Transportation, and Mothers Against Drunk Drivers (MADD), will be on hand to provide useful safety information.

The entire community is invited to participate in a wide variety of planned events including a bicycle rodeo for the children, a bicycle helmet give-a-way, a car safety seat give-away and inspection to ensure the proper installation of child restraint systems, multiple static displays, live radio broadcast, and other events intended to educate and entertain.

“It is our aim that everyone in attendance will have a great time while learning the importance of traffic safety.” LAPD Officer Robinson said.

The LAPD has been actively involved in community-oriented police activities for some time and the Traffic Safety Fair is another in a series of ongoing training, education and public information events. Officers with the South Traffic Division hope to enhance their community visibility, while at the same time, impart some meaningful information to the communities and individuals they serve.

If you have any questions, concerns or comments about the upcoming event, information is readily available from Officers Scott or Robinson at (213) 485-7742, Community Traffic Services Unit, 4125 S. Crenshaw Blvd., Los Angeles CA. 90008.
