The Long Term Care Housing Corporation and the City of Compton broke ground Saturday November 3 on what will be the Alameda Court town home development. The 28-unit complex will sit on an almost three- acre lot, at 501 South Alameda St., with units ranging from 1700 to 1800 square feet. Five of the units will be designated for purchase by long term health care workers.

“Alameda Court will be a non drive through zone and will feature a unique, non gated security design,” said LTCHC officials.

The new housing is part of the “Birthing a New Compton” campaign, spearheaded by the Compton City Council and the Community Redevelopment Agency. It is designed they said, to enhance the quality of life for all residents by improving the city’s blighted areas. The new housing will open “hopefully by the end of the year,” said LTCHC.

Also part of the new developments is the 500,000 square foot Gateway Towne Center, which opened this month. The center includes retail heavyweights, Target, Best Buy and Staples and is expected to bring 1000 new jobs to the city.

“The LTCHC established a rewarding relationship with the City of Compton. Our first two homes opened in Compton last year, and city officials continue to assist our efforts to open a 28 unit condominium project,” they said.
