Assemblyman Curren Price is scheduled to run for the 26th Senate District, a move that will allow him to continue his legislative service for the community The recent elections have created many vacancies in the electoral landscape which bodes well for some elected officials who see public service as their calling to serve the people. Sources say that Assemblyman Curren Price will run for the 26th Senate District, soon to be vacated by Senator Mark Ridley-Thomas, the Supervisor elect of the second district. However, the Sentinel has not been able to reach the assemblyman to confirm the story and according to the Secretary of State’s office, Price has not filed any papers to run for the 26th Senate seat. Currently Price represents the 51st assembly district and has had a distinguished career as an Inglewood City Councilman for almost a decade. Having been born and raised in the district, he has a wealth of knowledge and understanding of both the 51st assembly and 26th senate districts. And since they are in close proximity to each other, he would be an able representative. As a state senator, he will bring to the district the same level of quality service that he has been providing to his constituents—past and present. Because he has lived in the Los Angeles area all of his life, Price is uniquely qualified to serve the community. He was absent briefly while attending Stanford and Santa Clara Universities, and while he did a ten-year stint in Washington, D.C. to further his interest in business technology and international trade. As assemblyman, Price has laid out an ambitious agenda for the 51st District including improving funding for higher education; improving the availability of healthcare; improving transportation with better roads and alternatives to congestion; increasing the revenue flow of his district by expending economic development; and securing all wetlands and endangered species in California. The recent newsletter that Price sent to his constituents clearly stated his position: “It is an honor to serve in the California State Assembly and I will continue to provide you with the highest quality of public service.”
