Rev. Run, known previously as the energetic rapper in the group Run DMC and now seen on the MTV reality show “Run’s House,” has just inked a deal with Gotham Books for more than $1 million.

Rev. Run, born Joseph Simmons and his lovely wife Justine Simmons will write a book about parenting and having a close and productive family. The book discusses strategies to take back the family. The Simmons will take to the road to promote the book. “It’s exciting for me and my wife to go out on tour and to get involved with the people,” Rev. Run told AllHipHop.com. “It’s one thing to have a show; it’s another thing to touch people.” It is expected that Simmons’ children will also help to promote the book.

This is not the first encounter with writing books for the Simmons Family. Big brother and entrepreneur Russell Simmons also has a book deal with Gotham. He recently released a book titled “Do You!” Rev. Run released his spiritual book in 2006. The book is entitled “Words of Wisdom: Daily Affirmation of Faith.” Justine recently released a book for children called “God Can You Hear Me?”

Rev. Run is not just talking the talk about his family being productive, but the family is walking the walk. Not only are Run and Justine successful in their endeavors, but their daughters, Vanessa, 24; Angela, 20 are following in their parent’s footsteps.

The young entrepreneurs have started a line of women shoes line called Pastry Footwear.

The line will feature colorful, mid-priced athletic-inspired shoes. In addition, each shoe will have tube of lip gloss attached to it, with its scent/color matching the shoe’s theme.

Vanessa who is a run way model has just signed on as one of the actresses on the popular daytime TV soap opera “Guiding Light.”

Angela is the editor of “Word Up” magazine and will have her own monthly publication, “Angela’s Rundown.” The magazine will be a spin off of “Word Up” and will target youth between the ages of 14-18. The magazine will cover teen issues, style, music and fashion and will have in-depth celebrity interviews.

The other Simmons kids, Jojo, 17; Diggy, 12; and Russy, 10 are sure to follow.

The yet-to-be-titled book is set for release in 2008. The third season of “Run’s House” will start taping September 26.
