The Southern Christian Leadership Conference of Greater Los Angeles is more than ready for the events planned during King Week, which begins January 11 and culminates January 21. In honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s legacy, this year’s theme is “On Our Way Forward: Love and Justice...The Moral Imper-ative.”

The organization, which opened its doors in 1964 with King’s mission to promote non-violent progressive social change, will kick off the 31st annual King Week with a press conference held at City Hall’s south lawn (200 Spring St., Los Angeles, CA) on Friday from 9am to 10am.

The following Monday, the Multi-Faith Prayer Breakfast will be held at Holman United Methodist Church (3320 W. Adams, Los Angeles, CA 90018).

Then Thursday, the SCLC will be hosting a reception at the new Townhouse in Los Angeles where attendees can meet with SCLC President and CEO Rev. Eric Lee.

The Poor People’s Campaign presidential forum will be held Saturday, January 19 with location and time to be announced.

And, culminating King Week will be the 31st annual Martin Luther King Jr. gala dinner, which will be held Monday, January 21 at the Millennium Biltmore Hotel (506 S. Grand Ave, Los Angeles CA) from 6pm to 10pm. Presidential candidate John Edwards will be the featured keynote speaker.
