The pecking order of prominent Black athletes to be prosecuted by the Federal Government has reached to the doorsteps of the all-time home run king in baseball -Barry Bonds.

Reminiscent of the days of J. Edgar Hoover, federal and state prosecutors throughout America are operating in reckless pursuit to dethrone and ultimately destroy any African American that does not cooperate with them.

We first learned earlier this year with the case of Michael Vick that the bigger the name the greater the case. Vick accepted a plea deal in a dog-fighting scandal and faces prison in December. His professional football career, as we know it is over and his stardom as a great American athlete has dimmed.

In the end, Vick was done in by the same standard the government uses to measure all of us: “Truth or Lie.”

The problem is that the government does not play by its own rules and as indicative in the Bonds case, they lied to witnesses to get information from Bonds, but surprisingly Bonds and his high profile attorneys did not realize that many of the questions they were asking him they already had the answers for.

This shame game is not just exclusive to Bonds or Major League Baseball, which initiated this investigation into steroids to begin with, this shame game is equally shared by the American Government which takes tax payers money and do what it damn well pleases and then tells us what we should do with our money.

This so-called steroid era is only revealing that throughout the years of professional baseball as long as the stakes were as high as the rewards any risk to be successful was necessary.

Barry Bonds was an exceptional baseball player years before he was accused and then admitted that he took steroids. While the common response has been that the “cream” or “clear” does not help hit a baseball farther-that too is now debatable and there is unmitigated evidence to the contrary.

Unfortunately, some young White chemist student is somewhere on some college campus with a test tube that involves the next big scandal we are going to be facing.

Problem with all of this is what measure of detriment does a man playing professional baseball and taking steroids have on our society at large?

We know that Bud Selig and the White owners of major league baseball teams want to purify their records and keep their players clean.

Just as the NBA wants it’s Black basketball players to look and act a certain way although their cultural background has them struggling to conform.

The control freaked NFL does everything that it can to protect its image to keep the bank roll flowing in. It’s the only professional sports league that does not guarantee its contracts.

They are all just games that grown men play for compensation. A game many of them have played their entire lives for free.

They don’t prevent homelessness, cure cancer, prevent drug and alcohol abuse or solve domestic violence. It’s just some subliminal form of entertainment that passes the time with far too many games and seasons to keep up with and Far too many records to remember that they exist let alone be broken.

Bottom line is Barry Bonds Lied and the Federal Government Lied in a case that is attracting more attention than it deserves because the individual is a Black sports star who is responsible for breaking one of the most revered records in professional sports.

Shame on the White media for printing every leaked document they got from the government and shame on the government for this witch hunt on our tax dollars.

I don’t know if there is justice in America. I do know that in jails and prisons throughout America there is JUST US!
