Dr. Amen Rahh, Rahh Consulting Group, Compton, CA—We are making progress in those areas however; our real progress should be measured in terms of our collective advancement in the areas of education, employment, and economic development. And, for the fire chief to end discrimination, he must get our support.

Pamela Miles, Vocalist, San Bernardino, CA—I believe we are making progress because we are ascending to positions of greater responsibility, with increased frequency. Blacks have always been able to take charge and it is good to see that others finally acknowledge that.

Muhammad Nassardeen, Recycling Black Dollars, Los Angeles, CA—Yes, we are making progress with a Black Fire Chief which is a first for Los Angeles and of course, there have been other Blacks at the top in the police department. We are making progress in Los Angeles and we will continue to do so if we support each other.

Jerrie Shepherd, Retired, Harbor City, CA—We are making a little progress but I am leery when Blacks are appointed to key positions. Either something is wrong or they want to blame us for something. But, overall I congratulate the new fire chief and wish him well in his new assignment.

Robbin Proutt, City of Los Angeles, Los Angeles, CA—I think Los Angeles is making progress. We are at a point where we are frequently appointed to key positions that for too long were unavailable to us. Our leadership and decision-making abilities are now being acknowledged.

He is highly regarded by all members of the fire department and I am sure he will do an outstanding job.
