This has nothing to do with being embarrassed by what Rev. Wright said, or his right to say it. People are upset about his bad timing and poor judgement.
By saying what he said, when he said it, he gave the enemies of the Black community a weapon to use against Obama, and he also gave those white people who were on the fence about who they should vote for an excuse not to vote for a Black man.
We are placing an unrealistic burden on Obama. The man is applying for a job--the most powerful job in the world. How many of us would go on an important job interview and take a militant old uncle with us to tell the man how racist his company is to Black people?
That's what we're asking Obama to do, and it simply doesn't make sense.
