Have people read Dr. Sylvia Rhue's response to Firpo Carr's homophobic screed?
The main point is that every thing that Carr says about the "sexual diseases" gays and lesbians can apply to heterosexuals as well.
However, the part that inspired me to write was the complaint that "The White racist overlords of the prison industrial system promote homosexuality as a form of Black genocide by incarcerating our Black male youths at the tender ages of 15-25, at the height of their sexual prowess. By winking at and even encouraging homosexuality and lesbians in the Black community, African Americans in the LGBT community are playing right into the hands of White racists"
The absurdity really speaks for itself.

Dear All:
Welcome to the blog all you newcomers! You’re contribution makes for interesting dialogue. The more the merrier! Okay down to business:
I know I've been characterized as being 'hateful,' but, aren't most of the posts directed at me called "hate" mail? I find you all fascinating, and will continue to respond to most of you. This is great!
I promise I'm not taking any of this lightly. I don't mean to be cavalier. But, I have to tell you, you've all been quite predictable.
Your plan--wittingly or unwittingly--appears to be: (1) attack my credentials, (2) attack my belief in the Bible, (3) attack my religious affiliation, and finally, (4) use a Jedi mind trick to try and persuade the Sentinel to have me removed as a columnist. Oh, I must admit there's one I didn't predict: making fun of my name, "Firpo," therefore, belittling my parents who gave me that name.
You can imagine growing up with that name I've heard every joke in the book and laughed the hardest at them. It's always been a conversation piece! But, while I expected some underhanded moves on your part, I didn't think you do something that many would consider stooping so low as to ridicule a Black man because of the name his parents gave him. So now you're making fun of Black people's names? Take note Black readers! It's the force and power of the LGBT community at work! Remarkable. Living proof of what I stated in at least one of my articles.
Thank you, I've won a friendly bet in predicting your strategy. I'd also like to thank you for providing more fodder for future articles on the subject.
And, finally, a side note that will be a main theme of future articles: No one has yet to present a substantive challenge to what I've stated. But, brace yourselves, wait until you see what's coming soon to a Sentinel stand near you!
Thanks for all your comments. They're overwhelmingly beautiful! You're true to form. And keep reading the Sentinel!

Hey Wattree,
I don’t know if “2 or 3 a.m.” is early enough…

"So now you're making fun of Black people's names?"
Nope, pretty much just yours. And it's no good getting mad at me. I'm not the one who named you after the least known retarded Marx brother.
"Thank you, I've won a friendly bet in predicting your strategy."
No, Firpo. There is no strategy here. You do not represent anything that would call for something as grandiose as a strategy. You are useful as an example to hold up of the ugliness of homophobia (see, increased exposure of your columns isn't always a good thing. In this case, it just means a lot more people thinking "Wow, look at this whackjob") but there's no real reason to take you seriously. When someone writes something like your freakish obsession with the fantasy of lesbians contracting AIDS through tribadism with bisexual prostitutes, it doesn't exactly rise to the level of requiring a detailed scholarly rebuttal. It'd be a bit like trying to explain the physics of space travel to someone who claims that Martians are beaming thoughts into his head.
I have no interest in shutting you down, Firpo. On the contrary, I applaud your crusade to claim the crown of America's Looniest Antigay Black Dude from DL Foster. All you're missing is a household appliance talking to you, and that brass ring is yours.
Oh, and just FYI, your previous claim about not waiting desparately to reply to each comment might ring a lil more true if you weren't, you know, desparately replying to each comment. Just a thought.

Dear "Boo,"
Correction: You're not making fun of ME because of my name. I didn't name myself. You're making fun of Black people, my mother and father to be exact, because of my name. Not to worry, Dad's dead, and Mom (a woman who gave birth to ten children), like me, doesn't get provoked too easily.
And me "mad"? Surely you jest. Who would possibly be angry or afraid of a person who hides behind the name "boo."?
You're funny. More to come on the topic at hand, "Boo."

Dear Paul Ginandes:
My supposed religious affiliation that you reference is off topic. And the Constitution of this “secular nation” you speak of is based on the Judeo-Christian ethic as reflected in the Holy Bible, the same that’s used to swear every president into office. Any refutations to points made in my articles?
Respectfully,

Dear Audrey:
You wrote: “The reason that heterophobia is mentioned so little is that gays don't bash people for being hetero. They don't go around and associate diseases with their sex in order to enflame fear and hatred against them.” Do you have any substantive data to back this up?
You wrote: “By the way, heterosexual couples engage in all of the sexual activity that you associate with gays.”
I think you may have it backwards. Homosexual couples “engage in all of the sexual activity that you associate with” heterosexual couples. What makes any sexual act “homosexual” is when two people of the same sex mutually engage in it. Passionate kissing of a sexual nature becomes a homosexual act when two men or two women do it.
You wrote: “The real issue related to these diseases is sexual permissiveness and the number of partners with one has sex. Both gay and straight people get all of the diseases you mention. The fact that you try to stigmatize gays and lesbians with them is, in fact, a sign of homophobia. To do it in god’s name is to attempt to legitimize it.”
Gay men have many more partners than do straight men. For this reason primarily, HIV/AIDS is higher proportionately among gay men than straight. So, yes, people in general have auto accidents, but professional race car drivers have more them—proportionately speaking. I don’t need God’s name Jehovah to legitimize these facts.
You wrote: “Lastly, can you please tell me which cereal box tops you used to earn your doctorate? I gotta get me one of those too.”
With the “facts” you’ve presented here, you already have one. Are you coo coo for Coco Puffs maybe?
Respectfully,
Dr. Firpo Carr

Dear “Mad professah”:
Where do you people get these monikers? Anyway, you wrote that a Dr. Sylvia Rhue has responded to my “homophobic screed.” To quote you further, you wrote: “The main point is that every thing that Carr says about the ‘sexual diseases’ gays and lesbians can apply to heterosexuals as well.”
Well, first I glad to see that the good doctor didn’t deny or refute anything I wrote. It is as you said, she merely gave a “response.” Take note everyone!
Now, I refer you to my comments to Audrey above: “Gay men have many more partners than do straight men. For this reason primarily, HIV/AIDS is higher proportionately among gay men than straight. So, yes, people in general have auto accidents, but professional race car drivers have more [of] them—proportionately speaking.”
I would also like to remind of what the LA Times said, namely, that a study revealed that lesbians suffer higher rates of deadly breast cancer. Ask the good doctor about that.
You then write: “However, the part that inspired me to write was the complaint that ‘The White racist overlords of the prison industrial system promote homosexuality as a form of Black genocide by incarcerating our Black male youths at the tender ages of 15-25, at the height of their sexual prowess. By winking at and even encouraging homosexuality and lesbians in the Black community, African Americans in the LGBT community are playing right into the hands of White racists.’ The absurdity really speaks for itself.”
Well, it might interest you to know that these are the thoughts and sentiments of the former Surgeon General of the United States of America, one Dr. David Thacher. Now, I could be wrong, but I think he carries a little more weight than the good Dr. Sylvia Rhue. And that you think the facts as he relates them are ‘absurd,’ well, it shows that at least one part of your dubious moniker is accurate: “Mad.” (All in good fun.)
Respectfully,
Dr. Firpo Carr

"Correction: You're not making fun of ME because of my name."
Yeah, um... I never said I was making fun of YOU because of your name. I was making fun of your name. I guess reading comprehension wasn't covered in your mail order "doctorate"? Admittedly not the most charitable thing to do, but in my defense, your name is "Firpo."
"More to come on the topic at hand"
Excellent, keep the ammo for our side coming. It'll be hard to top the "scissoring prostitutes give lesbians AIDS thing", but I have faith in the power of the happy little elves that live in your head. You can do it!

Hello "Boo,"
After making fun of my dead father naming and my elderly mother naming me "Firpo," out of respect for the both of them, I'll not be responding to you any more. Thank you for your time, "Boo,"

Aahahahahahahaa. Hilarious piece.
This is satirical, right? Right? Sexually transmitted diseases that can be caught by any HUMAN as "lesbian" diseases. Too funny.
I'm afraid most aren't getting this is a joke.
Come on Dr. Carr. Let everyone know what a huge wit you are and fess up. Otherwise, folks are just going to think you're a compete idiot and stark raving mad.

Dear CJ:
Any constructive criticism on the article itself?
Dr. Firpo Carr
Posted by CJ, on 12-15-2008 10:09,
You want comments? So you mean you're actually writing this as a serious piece? Oh honey. I'll remind you of the wise Lincoln who said, "Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt."
Your article is so foolish, I don't think it's really worthy of much debate.
But since you seem so in need of this attention, I'll go with just this nugget
You say "In my previous article published last week I listed some diseases associated with gay men. Well girls, it's your turn this week. The following is a list of "lesbian" maladies and infections and the practices that spread them."
Honey, these are not diseases associated with lesbians or "lesbian" diseases. These are sexually transmitted diseases that can be contracted by any woman (and in several instances) by men. Ask my husband of 15 years how much he liked those genital warts he got when he was in college. To suppose or attempt to imply that they are "lesbian" diseases is really stretching facts to support your very obvious bias.
I hate to break it to you, but you are not uncovering any new information by telling us that sex can transmit disease, but you are being intellectually very dishonest by implying that these diseases are spread only by "them", those scary lesbians. Or is it news to you that lesbians are also humans who can contract the same diseases we heterosexuals can?
If you were not so clearly blinded by your own bigotry, I think you'd be more likely to present something that doesn't, quite literally, read like a satirical joke. I honestly could not believe you meant this article in earnest. It's kinda crazy sounding, all of your suppositions, and reminds me of those whacko God Hates Fags people.
Just keeping it real, Dr. Carr.
I'll pray that God can provide you with peace and open your heart to his love rather than using his good book as a weapon. Your hate is palpable and quite sad.
Best,
CJ

CJ!
You’re really sincere! Thank you! Here’s what I state in my article regarding the list of “lesbian” diseases: “It was adapted from the booklet More than just friends-Information, advice and help for lesbians and bisexual women on sexual health, HIV & AIDS and other sexually transmitted infections, published by Sheffield Centre for HIV & Sexual Health. I also consulted my book, The Theology Behind Scientific Thought (Vol. 3). By the way, the December 22, 1993 issue of the Los Angeles Times reports that while ‘health research on lesbians is virtually nonexistent...there are indications that they may suffer from higher rates of breast cancer than do heterosexual women.’ Not good.”
Please tell me how quoting these sources make me either “foolish” or “a bigot”? I swear I didn’t write the publication “More than just friends—Information, advice and help for lesbians and bisexual women on sexual health, HIV & AIDS and other sexually transmitted infections,” nor did I write the LA Times article.
I can’t believe people here believe that I believe only gays and lesbians get the diseases mentioned. After all, I quoted yet another source (CNN) as follows: “Around the world, a staggering 2.7 million people were infected in 2007 alone. Globally, 33 million people are living with HIV infection, most of them in the developing world. In the United States, more than 1 million people are living with HIV. And 56,000 more people are infected each year in the U.S., driving HIV prevalence rates in some of our communities to levels that rival those seen in sub-Saharan Africa. Gay and bisexual men, and African-Americans in general, are disproportionately affected. The true ground zero of the HIV epidemic in the United States is in those communities.”
Yes, “African-Americans in general,” both male and female, “are disproportionately affected.” Duh! Maybe I’ve been too formal in my responses. So, let me keep it real too. Are you dense? I ain’t mad at CJ sweetheart. I love you.

>Please tell me how quoting these sources make me either “foolish” or “a bigot”?
Oh Dr. Carr. Please don't play us all for ignorant fools to your denial and bigotry. You are clearly intending to imply that lesbians and gays are to be feared and to be maligned. And in so doing, you present information on sexually transmitted diseases that everyone can contract but calling them "lesbian" diseases. Do you really think you're fooling anyone but yourself in this biased effort? I suppose you do, but I am telling you that you are failing to fool the rest of us. And you do know that breast cancer is not a sexually transmitted disease, right?
With all due respect, and I admit I struggle to offer that to you, a "conversation" with you about homosexuals is like attempting to hold court with someone in the KKK and trying to talk rationally with them about their racism. There is no rational place there to stand, with them and with your homophobia.
We are often unable to see our own issues because we are so close to them. Just because you do not see how bigoted and irrational you are, does not mean the rest of us do not see it clearly in your writing.
You may also imagine you are the only intelligent, educated person on this planet, but you are not. I am not dense and your childish insults only show a lack of confidence in your arguments.
Now to call my beautiful lesbian aunt and tell her how much God and I love her and her partner. Your hate will never be a match for that love, Dr. Carr.
