Dear Steve Trozzi,
Sir, if you would like to have honest, respectful dialogue, I’ll be happy to respond to your inquiries. As I believe you know, my name is “Firpo,” not “Flipo.” And it’s called the “Watchtower,” not “Watchquirer.” And, for the record, I have never translated any Bible for the Watch Tower Society.
Again, Steve, if you do not respond with mutual courtesy and respect, I will respectfully decline responding to any posts you submit, no matter how many they may be.
Thank you.
Respectfully,
Dr. Firpo W. Carr

Poor Michael. A victim of physical and emotional abuse his entire life.
Much of his music reflects his sadness and conflicted state of being. "Bad" after he was scolded by the WEBTS over "Thriller." "Man in the Mirror" -- clearly a deeply reflective mind.
Poor Michael. Exploited even in his sleep.
I wish only the best for his children. I hope there are at least a few sane people in that gaggle of parasites they must live with.
And the JWs are not all bad. Just because they, too, have paid out millions in child molestation cases doesn't mean they're any worse than the rest... except for the part where they serve as tax-exempt unpaid distributors of publications of the religion spawned by the hostile corporate takeover of a religious publishing house.
We are all the world. Jehovah's witnesses too. They need to get used to it.

Dear BornJW:
You wrote: "I have looked into the theology & history of the Watchtower & am thoroughly convinced without a doubt it's a counterfeit Christian cult." You then offered the following 9 points as proof of your claim. My response to each follows.
You wrote: “1. Bases many beliefs on numerology”
My response: Please offer evidence of this.
You wrote: “2. corrupt translation of the bible (NWT)”
My response: Please offer evidence of this.
You wrote: “3. Founders were into demonic occult teachings”
My response: Please offer evidence of this.
You wrote: “4. Doctrines have changed over time”
My response: True. The Bible says: “And as for you, O Daniel, make secret the words and seal up the book, until the time of the end. Many will rove about, and the true knowledge will become abundant.” (Daniel 12:4) In this “time of the end” ‘true knowledge is becoming abundant.’ With increased or NEW knowledge and understanding of any subject come the adjustment of and shedding of OLD knowledge and understanding.
This is why from kindergarten to college we constantly get new editions of the same textbooks. This is why company polices are always changing; always in flux. It is why every serious human endeavor in a civilized society has “updates” that ‘supersedes any and all previously written standards.’ I am sure you have heard the maxim that says ‘the only constant is change.’ And while truth doesn’t change, our understanding of it does.
And, yes, I am going to use the same scripture text that the Witnesses use. Proverbs 4:18 says, “But the path of the righteous ones is like the bright light that is getting lighter and lighter until the day is firmly established.” So, in my humble opinion, change for the better, based on God’s Word the Bible, is an earmark of the true religion....

(continued)
You wrote: “5.1914 Jesus *invisible* return”
Correct. In my humble opinion the Witnesses, with the backing of Scripture and secular historians, offer compelling evidence of this. One needs only to check their literature. (http://watchtower.org/cgi-
bin/lib/ProcessForm.pl)... (see below)
You wrote: “6. only 144,000 go to heaven”
Correct. The Bible says that 144,000 are taken from earth and brought to heaven. Rev. 14:1-3 reads in part: “And I saw, and, look! the Lamb standing upon the Mount Zion, and with him a hundred and forty-four thousand having his name and the name of his Father written on their foreheads…the hundred and forty-four thousand…have been bought from the earth.” You appear to be accusing the Witnesses of actually teaching the Bible.
You wrote: “7. two classes of saved Christians”
Correct. In contradistinction to the finite number of 144,000 that go to heaven the Bible identifies an unnumbered “GREAT crowd” of billions that will live forever on a paradise earth as God purposed in the prelapsarian period of human existence. After mentioning the 144,000 symbolically taken from the 12 tribes of Israel (Rev. 7:1-8; see also Rom. 2:27, 28 and Gal. 6:16)
You wrote: “8. *whole* blood and autologous transfusions a sin, but okay to use fractions donated by Red Cross blood donors”
My view is at variance with certain aspects of the Witnesses’ position in this matter. (See my book The Theology Behind Scientific Thought (Vol. 3) for more detailed information.) Nevertheless, credit the Witnesses with moving medical science forward by refusing blood transfusions consistently for decades now. This refusal has been based on their understanding of what the Bible says about the matter. They gave me the seminal idea of refusing blood transfusion for Scriptural reasons.
You wrote: “9. genocide of 6 billion plus men women children at Watchtower Armageddon” etc.....
My response: Please offer evidence of this.

You wrote: “Dr Firpo, You are an apologist / defender / promoter of the Jehovah's Witnesses Watchtower society,YET you are not one (anymore)? This is called being a shill. Anybody who wants true life experiences Google: Jehovah Witness and start scrolling.”
My response: Actually, in doing a comparative study of religion and the Bible (among other texts considered holy) since age 19 (I am now 54), I have reached the same doctrinal conclusions as the Witnesses on virtually all subjects we have mutually considered. (Please visit my Web site at www.firpocarr.com for my background.) Consequently, when it comes to doctrines like hellfire, the trinity, and immortality of the soul, we reached the same conclusions. (Of course, they had them first, taught me, and independent research verified the veracity of their stance.)
There are matters that I respectfully beg to differ with the Witnesses on. For example, the allowance for the use of blood fractions in transfusion; the de facto beardless rule for brothers in responsible positions; and the belief that we do not know the correct pronunciation of God’s name Jehovah, are all “teachings,” in my humble opinion, that find no basis in Scripture. My position has been well documented in books that I have published dating back to 1991, which brings me to your next point.
You accuse me of being “an apologist/defender/promoter of the Jehovah’s Witnesses,” although I am “not one (anymore).” You then say, “This is called being a shill.”
Well, since I disagree with the Witnesses on several matters (as noted above), I can hardly be all the names you have called me. In any event, for the record, I am convinced that they comprise God’s earthly organization.
Respectfully,
Dr. Firpo W. Carr

Dear Suzanne:
I must admit that you are masterful at delivering stinging, razor-sharp backhand compliments, couching them in an atmosphere of acceptance.
For instance, you make statements like “poor Michael” was “scolded by the [WTBTS],” that “JWS are not ALL BAD,” and that they “paid out millions in child molestation cases,” and have essentially engineered a “hostile corporate takeover.” I shudder at your skill. I must say that I am impressed. I would be even more so if you could offer proof for all these allegations.
Please feel free to post here. Alas, so far we have only empty allegations.
Respectfully,
Dr. Firpo W. Carr

Let me first say that although I believe I sense some hostility in your tone. Nevertheless, please accept my thanks for maintaining a sense of civility in your writing as well. It is much appreciated.
Now, to your questions. I can say with reasonable certainty that Michael was seriously entertaining—and for some time at that—a formal re-association with the Witnesses because he told me. That’s how I know.
Thanks for asking.
Respectfully,
Dr. Firpo W. Carr
