Thanks for the depth. It's indeed as complicated as you say ... it seems as though cops kill Black and Brown men with impunity, stop black and brown men so they learn instinctively what it means to "assume the position" during so-called routine traffic stopes, and the threat facing these Black and Brown men (and the people who love them) comes from the cops, industrial prison complex, and, tragically, people who look like them and are subject to the same harrassment and debasement. It compounds the sense of tragedy ... fuels the terror... amplifies the hurt.
