I was at that debate and also well aware of what was said in 2004. The Senator in fact never advocated for closure of MLK but indeed was critical of the lack of quality of care provided to many of its patients at the trauma center which the Board of supervisors closed after the hospital lost its accreditation. Where was the Sentinel when the woman died outside MLK when they failed to pay attention to her complaints of acute need to be seen. B. Parks accused MRT of advocating for the hospital's closure (the entire hospital) he made no qualifications about trauma center versus the whole hospital at the debate. It seems the Sentinel is the one re-writing history. Could it be that Mr. Danny Bakewell and his son who are endorsing B. Parks are forgetting that the Sentinel is a newspaper not a campaign blog. It is sad to see personal politics replace journalistic integrity and objective reporting of important community events. Shame on the Sentinel! You should be better than this!
