I hate to see V100 go also. They did the thing when it came to a taste of old school and a bit of new school. Micheal Baisden was the best thing there but after a while he was just too much to listen to. Overall his message was always on point. The morning show was ok to but that Diana Steel bought that show down! She was beyond boring. I guess black owned doesn't mean anything to our community. We always talk about keeping it real, keeping it black but those terms don't mean anything because it's all about keeping it GREEN!!!!! That is a shame.

So very sad, V100 was one of the main stations on the radio, great people & music !!!

Well, another great station goes by the wayside....thank goodness for KJLH, "The WAVE"....maybe I'll just plug in my mp3...full of great "oldies" from the 60's and 70's....sorry to see you go :(

V100 played great R&B classics that no other station ever plays, it brought back great memories back in the 70's. The music that was played by V100 has alot of meaning and feelings that music just doesn't have anymore! I'm sad that V100 isn't on the air and I hope that Cliff Winston & Michael Baisden get together and start up their own radio station with good old R&B music

I am so sad with this news. I didn't listen to the morning show. I didn't listen to Cliff on KJLH so I surely didn't want to listen to him on this station. I was happy when Tom Joyner came and then he was gone. I prefer the news or progressive radio over anything that is available on the stations.
I am most sad about Michael Baisden leaving. I would rush to my car in the afternoon just to hear his show from the fun to the serious it was a breath of fresh air. I was able to hear about so many things affected blacks across the nation from his show.
Perhaps it is the fact that I lived in VA for a time that I was exposed to a different radio format than the one my native L.A. provides. I much prefer the offerings the other states have for African-Americans and CANNOT understand why the L.A. audience is pleased with the poor selections we are offered on a daily basis.

I just don't believe what has happened!I turned on my radio for the first time in 2 weeks only to here honky tonk music I thought it was a joke!! I miss v100 it has emerged as my favorite radio station. V100 had started to be a channel for social issues facing black america with michael baisden at the helm and now with the wink of an eye he is gine and so goes the tell of the black owned business selling out to those who have no interest or stake in urban america!!! This is a terrible loss, just terrible!! I will mis cliff and diana, mike and george, milt and everyone else who enlightened and entertained me throughout the day. I wish all of you well and hope to hear you soon on the airwaves.

Was I surprised the other morning when I turned on the radio, I didn't hear Cliff Winston or Diana Steele. WHAT A LOSS! I am hispanic and I looked forward to listening to both of them. Suffice it to say I WILL NOT be listening to the new format.

When Johnny Cochran died, I felt the black community lost a gem. Cliff W. and Michael B. are precious stones back in the rough. Hopefully these intelligent black me will be found to shine again...permanently!

I recently moved to Riverside County, Oct. '07, and truly enjoyed listening to this station. It was a great way to wind down in the evenings and I am saddended that it is gone. The music was great to groove to with my honey on a cold night. ;O) Too bad...

Can't believe another one bites the dust! What a shame; so sad that the best radio station for soul / R & B is gone. i am not black & don't feel that this music is only marketed for black people. that is a myth. this is the music i grew up on & there isn't enough of it on the radio. the DJ's were great -- Cliff Winston is the one of the best on the air. The station has been great for all people who have good taste in music & community. Now what station do we listen to? Not too many left. Sad.

Once again we have a popular African American company "selling out" for the almighty dollar. I thought when Cathy Hughes bought the Beat she would be a different type of owner, but she chose to be just another Plantation Negro. Steve Harvey was absoultely right to diss her ass at the BET Awards a few years ago.
What is the African American community going to do with so many of our stations going under or selling to the white man.

I definetly have to agree with the earlier comment regarding John London. The House Party was by far the best morning show and if you bring that back you would also bring back life to the station.

I have been listening to V100 since the Tom Joyner show went off the air without warning. I was glad the staff had a chance to let the audience know what was happening and say good-bye. I already miss the show, and was apalled at the new music being played at 100.3. When I tuned in to KJLH the music was bland, but I don't like the format of KPWR so it's KJLH or CD's.

This is away to stop the Obama support that was and is greatly supported on this station. Just a another way to use the power of money, to make sure there will never be a Black President. This is so sad!

First, The Sentinel must realize that KJLH, not KDAY is owned by Stevie Wonder.
RAdio One did not own KKBT/KBRV for 16 years. During the heyday of KKBT, it was owner by Evergreen/Chanceller Media which became Clear Channel.
To be honest, when RAdio One took over, the BEAT started to go downhill and fast.

I am also one whom was sadden @ the loss, we finally had a st that you could wake & go to sleep listening to music & uplifting words, I find Steve Harvery boring, Mike B kept it real kept us inform no matter what side of the equator your from, hopefully we will get another st like V100 or at least get Mike Basiden back!!

that's a shame, very nice station, very good music, i really wasn't into Michael Baisden that much, too much much talking, needed more music play, but very nice music. I really am to miss that 70's music. Boy i'll tell yiu, white boy just miss up everything they touch.

I think the station really screwed up when they let steve harvey get away from them, this man practically made this station thrive, he brought in advertisement which is essential, without money no station could survive. Steve brought in a audience which is very important, and most of all he has talent, someone that people could listen to. There IS SAYING, IF ITS NOT BROKE, THEN DO NOT TRY AND FIX IT. That what the BEAT tryed to do, now steve harvey has blown up kday, which should have been beat or newly converted v100, but now kday benifit from the excutive mistakes. management should really take the blame for mess.

It is really ashame that we can't seem to keep more than 1 radio station that targets the African American audience. We may not like everything about a station, but we can find at least 1 thing to hold us there. I really enjoyed the mix of classic R&B and neo soul. We need the diversity of more than 1 black owned radio station here in Los Angeles.
