This is an unjust act, a wrongful accusation. He is clearly innocent. There is no evidence which would link him to the murders. This is a huge mistake. But in the end Justice will prevail.

An incompetent attorney and a broken judicial system are in the process of seizing the freedom of another minority. Unless we revamp our exising judicial process our prision population will continue to be overcrowded with people of color. As long as the judicial system operate under a form of justice call "JUST US" minorities will never be given "due process of law". Makeith I pray that God will do a supernatural intervention on your behalf so that you will be exonerated.

This story is like any other stories. I'm sure there are many stories of young black men and women in the situation. But you don't hear much of the family and friends that go through this process. As the aunt (Yvette Cunningham) has beeb there from day one to support her nephew, let us not forget about his mother (Michelle Avarez-Christon). Michelle have been there to support her son. Anyone who knows Makeitha knows his mother for giving him 10o percent love and support. Like a lot of black mothers who face the injustice for there children, Michelle is no exception to this rule. To watch Makeitha grow up from a bud to a flower, and making a decision to join the military at 18, affect a mother emotionally, physically, and financially. With no disrespect to his auny (Yvette Cunningham), Michelle raised her son the best way she knows. Shen instill in Makeitha knowledge, love, and support. MaKeitha was raised to be a good man, son, and father. Whether you have money or not, black men and women are still segregated in the judicial system.

What another mischarter of justice again. When will it STOP. How can one send this young man to jail for the rest of his life- he is 25 years old and no other criminal record before now! Once again was he judged by his peers? We all need to come together white/black/browns...

Why are these trumped up carges allowed to happen in our court room, in 2008? Another black man being enslaved through our justice system! We were told that we would over come these types of injustices, that was back in the sixties, seventies and even the eighties, but people, this is 2008! Wake up people, we moveone step forwardand get knocked more steps backward. How can a picture of the murderous, have an eye witness identify the murderous, but convict an innocent person? Where is the justice? Now,this so call lawyer, who was hired to represent this young man should be debared. His license should be burned and he should never be allowed to walk in the courtroom except to be trailed himself. Wake up my people, its someone elses son today, but it could be yours or my son tomorrow!

This is nothing new this kind of stuff has been going on for years. Most people are not aware that the prison system is a corporation which means that it has to make money in order to stay in business. So that means the have to keep the prisions full of inmates working to make them the stock holders rich. Now this is the injustice when you make money by taking the life, rights and freedom of people. They say lady justice is blind but you notice she is not surppose to be able to see your color but she don't need to see your color she just says put the money on the scales. the one that puts the most money tips the scales. HOW CAN YOU CONVICT A PERSON OF A CRIME WITH NO WITNESSES NO GUN NO NOTHING. just because you have a cop that wants to prove a point. an attorney that just got paid to sit on his but an allow someone life to to tossed away like a peice of trash. This is one profession where they get paid on both ends . They get money from the crooks and the innocent. So why should it matter wether they win or loose. So what we really need to do as a group is start to stan up and speak out for what is right. Today it can be Makietha and tommorow it can be someone else maybe even one of our family members. When all else fails we can all pray because PRAYERS CHANGES THINGS. So keep those prayers going that is one thing that we can't do too much of. And don't forget to pray that Makeitha holds up under this sistuation.

The instances of Black people being bullied by the so-called criminal justice system has reached epidemic proportions here and across the country and it is time to do something about it. Where are our so-called leaders now? Are they intimidated by the system too since so many of them have been prosecuted lately? Is that the reason for the disproportionate prosecutions of African American office holders?
Collectively our community has to realize the judges who sit on the Bench in LA Superior Court actually have more power over our community than any Congressman, State Representative, Supervisor or Mayor and we must thoroughly investigate them. We expect aspirants to the position of City Council to come before us and we should expect the same for those running for judge.
We have to stop the lawyers who take our money for these cases and run. We have to stop the judges who seem intent on jailing our young people ad-nausea. Why is it that good kids wind up in jail while the known thugs are still on our streets?
We cry, ‘Take back our streets!’ Our cry should also be, ‘Take back our courts!’
We can begin immediately by immediate public scrutiny of every individual who are running for judge next month and beyond. They need to know, in no uncertain terms, they must answer to our community and no longer will some weak ballot statement talking about how they prosecuted gang members will earn our votes. These candidates for judge need to be called on the carpet in churches, at Neighborhood Association meetings, in front of service/social organizations and questioned BEFORE they get our vote as they must do in other areas of our community.
If we do what as our neighbors on the west-side and in the valley have done for years maybe we can get the same respect from the courts they receive.
We have the power as a unified community both Black & Brown to make a difference. I believe the time is NOW.

There are some many youngman in jail today due to our corrupt polices, lawyers and judges. I have known this youngman and family for many many years, we have cried and laughed together. This is not a young black man who needs to be behind bars away from his daughter, family, and friends. It is very heart broken to see this young man,who served in the Navy for our lives, to have his life be taken for lack of evidence. LET HIM GO SO HE CAN LIVE HIS LIFE WITH HIS FAMILY. Makeitha I love you and you are in my prays as well as the family.

I HAVE A 25 YEAR OLD SON. HE HAS A 2 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER. HE HAD A MINOR LEGAL PROBLEM WHILE IN HIGH SCHOOL. MAKEITHA COULD BE MY SON. WHAT IS HAPPENING TO HIM FRIGHTENS ME AND TEARS MY HEART UP. HOW CAN THE JUDGE ALLOW THIS? HE KNOWS RIGHT IS RIGHT. EVEN IF THAT SCANDALOUS ATTORNEY DIDN'T DO HIS JOB. THIS IS EXACTLY WHY BLACK PEOPLE BELIEVE THAT AMERICA'S JUSTICE SYSTEM IS AGAINST THEM. GOD BLESS YOU MAKEITHA. GOD BLESS YOUR AUNT AND SUPPORTERS AND A SPECIAL BLESSING TO YOUR MOTHER WHO IS DEALING WITH THE DISBELIEF,FRUSTRATION,ANGER AND PAIN THAT THIS SITUATION HAS CAUSED.

That's just wrong how you can know a person didn't committ a crime and just throw their life away like it's nothing, and the lawyer you hire doesn't care about the case or a young man's life hanging in the balance! It just pisses you off and makes you sick in the stomach how people could do these kind of things with no remorse at all. The best thing you can do now is not give up, PRAY and hope GOD works everything out in the end. I'll be praying for him.

THIS IS CRAZY HOW CAN THEY CONVICT A PERSON OF A CRIME WITH NO WITNESSES AND NO GUN?
