Displaying the spirit of Christmas, Pastor Cedric V. Alexander and members of Price Chapel A.M.E. Church are helping children of incarcerated parents have a more enjoyable season.

On Sunday, December 16, at 11 a.m., the congregation will sponsor Angel Tree Sunday to share fellowship, food and funds with more than 100 young people in their edifice located at 4000 West Slauson Avenue in Los Angeles.

“When a parent is incarcerated, it is the child that does the hard time. We hope to assist children facing Christmas separated from their mom or dad by dedicating this day to them,” said Pastor Alexander.

“Our Angel Tree director, Rev. Michael R. Jackson, is continuing Price Chapel’s long history of serving Angel Tree Children, their guardians and incarcerated parents.”

The Rev. Deborah Postell, chaplain for the Southern California Region of Prison Fellowship and Angel Tree Ministry, will be the guest preacher. Chaplin Postell directs the ministry’s programs at correctional facilities in Los Angeles, Ventura and Santa Barbara Counties. She also serves as Reentry Field Director where she provides a Bridge Church and referrals for housing, employment, education and family services.

“More than 1.7 million children will spend Christmas away from their imprisoned parents. Churches and groups can help by sponsoring a child in this situation. Just send your check payable to Price Chapel AME Church and write ‘Angel Tree Ministry Donation’ on the memo line,” added Pastor Alexander.

“Please join us in spreading the spirit of Christmas to those who need it most. Call our church office at (323) 296-2406 for additional information.”
