New Mt. Calvary Honors Pastor Dawson

A spirit of rejoicing surrounds the New Mount Calvary Baptist Church membership as they prepare to honor Pastor Sonja R. Dawson with an Appreciation and Birthday Celebration.

On Friday, January 25 at 7 p.m., Elder Gary Sprewell will host a special Birthday Party with Worship Leaders Jovita Shepherd, Minister John Bernard, Minister Franchesca White, and other guests.

Three celebratory worship services are set for Sunday, January 27.  At 7:30 a.m., Superintendent Jeffrey Lewis, pastor of New Antioch COGIC, will bring the message. The Rev. Dr. Jacqueline Thompson, assistant pastor of Allen Temple Baptist Church in Oakland, will preach at 10:45 a.m.  The grand finale service at 3:30 p.m., will feature Elder Carol Houston, senior pastor and teacher of Bethel Unspeakable Joy Christian Fellowship Church, Inc., delivering the Word of God. 

“Pastor Dawson is a highly gifted woman of God who possesses the unique ability to create intergenerational unity while inspiring transformation in the lives of men, women, and children, in and beyond the church walls,” commented a member.

“In her two years as pastor, New Mt. Calvary has experienced tremendous spiritual and numerical growth while expanding its community outreach, services and programs.”
