Crenshaw UMC

After 108 years of service, outreach, encouragement and love for the surrounding community and globally, Crenshaw United Methodist Church ushered in its 109th Homecoming Celebration on January 13 in elegance under the tutelage of Pastor Derrick Lewis-Noble, Jr.

Dr. Lewis-Noble is an award-winning preacher/pastor and motivational speaker who was recently cited as one of the top 20 young preachers in America by ‘The African American Pulpit’ magazine. He received the Copeland Award for Evangelism in 2007 and 2011.

In June 2012, Dr. Lewis-Noble was appointed to serve as senior pastor of Crenshaw UMC after being in the ministry for nearly 20 years. His vision statement is ‘Changing Lives for the Better.’

Pastor Lewis-Noble preached a rousing sermon on Homecoming Sunday that kept the congregation on their feet with their hands held high and praises of "Amen" flowing from their lips.

Preaching from Jeremiah 33:14-16, his sermon was titled, ‘You Can Go Home Again’ and he gave Crenshaw a spirited reminder that it is never too late to run back into the arms of the Savior, Jesus Christ.

Pastor Lewis-Noble’s sermon was followed by the blessing and consecration of the church’s new Celebration Plaza, a brick memorial dedicated to past and future members.

The Homecoming Celebration concluded with a luncheon in the redesigned and remodeled Hammond Hall.
