Occupy Red Tails was a success!!

Red Tails Mixer packs The Rave Cafe'

Black cinema enthusiasts, celebrities and local “who’s-who” showed up for the film.

The mission was to “occupy” the RAVE Theater at the Howard Hughes Promenade on Friday, January 20 and that’s exactly what happened. A huge crowd turned out to show their support for the Tuskegee biographical movie, Red Tails.

"Each of us collectively have the power to champion George Lucas’ mission by letting the entertainment industry witness firsthand that movie audiences will pay to see compelling, big-budgeted films from diverse viewpoints," said organizer Joseph Alvarez.

Celebrities, movie goers and supporters of black cinema showed up at the Howard Hughes Center for the screening of Red Tails, and networked and socialized at the RAVE Cafe' and Bar on the 2nd floor.

Star of the soap opera General Hospital, Sean Blakemore, star of Tyler Perry's sitcom For Better or Worse, Kiki Haynes, & star of HBO's True Blood & ABC's 187, Aisha Hinds, and singing legend Brenda Russell were in attendance, also bestseller author Eric Jerome Dickey.

The turnout made the Rave add two additional show times for the movie, as it was originally an 8:00pm and an 11:40pm show time. They eventually added an 8:20pm and 9:40pm to accommodate the overwhelmingly large attendance.  

Mission accomplished!
