Price Chapel Kicks-off Lenten Caravan

Six churches will kick-off the 4th Annual Community Lenten Caravan on Ash Wednesday, February 13, at Price Chapel A.M.E. Church, 4000 West Slauson Avenue in Los Angeles.

Rev. Cedric V. Alexander is the host pastor for the first service. Other Caravan participants are the Rev. Dr. Allen Williams of First A.M.E.- Pasadena, the Rev. Darryl Walker of New Philadelphia A.M.E., the Rev. John Cager III of Second A.M.E., the Rev. Dr. Clyde Oden of Bryant Temple A.M.E. and the Rev. Dr. Kelvin Calloway of Bethel A.M.E.

"The Community Lenten Caravan services will be held at alternating Caravan locations each Wednesday to commemorate the Christian tradition of Lent that starts on Ash Wednesday and ends on Resurrection Sunday. The purpose of Lent is to experience prayer, penitence, almsgiving and self-denial,” said Pastor Alexander.

"We encourage the community to come out and share in this spirit-filled worship experience and hear a powerful message by the Rev. Dr. Williams of First A.M.E. in Pasadena.”

The program includes a light dinner served from 5:30 p.m. to 6:45 p.m., with the service starting at 7 p.m.
