Rev. Mark E. Whitlock

Annual Heritage Sunday takes place on February 24, at 7:30 a.m. and 10:45 a.m., at New Mount Calvary Missionary Baptist Church.

“As we celebrate and honor Black History, we are delighted to receive Pastor Mark Whitlock of Christ Our Redeemer (COR) A.M.E. in Irvine, as our guest preacher,” said Pastor Sonja R. Dawson.

“He is a personal friend and mentor who has served the Lord and advanced the Kingdom through civic engagement for more than 25 years.  We invite the community to join us for this blessed occasion.”

Currently, the Rev. Whitlock is the spiritual leader of more than 3,000 believers attending COR Churches on three campuses. Under the guidance of his father in the ministry, Dr. Cecil ‘Chip’ Murray, he established and served as executive director of FAME Renaissance, the community and economic development corporation of First A.M.E. in Los Angeles.

In addition, he is executive director of the Cecil Murray Center for Community Engagement at USC and chief executive officer of Nehemiah Ministries, an economic development corporation for the Fifth Episcopal District of the A.M.E. Church.

New Mount Calvary is located at 402 East El Segundo Boulevard in Los Angeles. For information, call (310) 324-0644 or visit newmtcalvary.org
