There will be four days of some of the greatest basketball in the nation at the Anaheim Convention Center.  The Southern Section championship games will be held this weekend  with a number of the best teams in the State battling it out.  

 

The Division 1AA bracket is one of the toughest in the nation, and Long Beach Poly and Inglewood were on the verge of making it to the championship game.  But Poly, who was ranked in the top 10 in the nation, lost in overtime to Etiwanda, who is ranked in the top 30 in the nation.  

 

Inglewood made a great run, knocking off Mission Viejo in the quarterfinals, but they lost to Mater Dei, argubly the best team in the State, in the semifinals.  

 

Mater Dei and Etiwanda will play in one of the best games in the nation for the Division 1AA title on Saturday at 8:30 p.m.

 

Lynwood’s girl’s team will be playing for the Division 2AA championship on Friday at 3:30 p.m. against the winner of the Keppel vs. Riverside North game, and Culver City will be playing in the Division 2A championship game against Murrieta Valley at 5:15 p.m.  

 

In the girls’ Division 4AA bracket, Windward and Serra play tonight at 8:15 for the title.  Serra’s boy’s team will take on La Verne Lutheran in the Division 4AA title game on Saturday at noon.
