New Mt. Calvary Rejoices Over God’s Favor

Rejoicing over God’s favor, the members of New Mount Calvary Missionary Baptist Church plan a spirit-filled observance of their 50th Anniversary.

“Over half a century ago, the Lord called our founder, the Rev. Dr. Lonnie Dawson, to plant the seed of faith.  A half-century later, we celebrate God’s favor and the fulfillment of His promise,” said Pastor Sonja Dawson, spiritual leader of the 2,000 member congregation.

“We invite the community at-large to join us for our celebrations.”

Events begin with a Pre Kick-Off Celebration on Sunday, March 10, at 3:30 p.m., at New Mt. Calvary, 402 East El Segundo Boulevard in Los Angeles.  The guest preacher will be Bishop Sheridan McDaniel of Faithful Central Bible Church.

On Sunday, March 17, at 3:30 p.m., the Kick-Off Celebration takes place highlighting the Pastor’s Choir, the Youth and Young Adult Choir and Ushers, the Children, Youth and Young Adult Praise Dance Ministry, the Children’s Church and the Sunday School Department.

The 50th Jubilee Ball is set for Friday, March 22, at 7 p.m., at the Cerritos Senior Center in Pat Nixon Park.

“Our Grand Celebration commences on Sunday, March 24 at 3:30 p.m. Our keynote speaker for this momentous occasion will be the powerful Rev. Wayne Chaney, Jr., pastor of Antioch Church of Long Beach,” said Pastor Dawson.
