Lewis Metropolitan C. M. E. Church will mark 65 years during the Church Anniversary Service on Sunday, January 22, in its sanctuary at 4900 South Western Avenue in Los Angeles.

Presiding Elder Wendell M. Oldham, pastor of Lewis Metropolitan, will kick-off the celebration at the 10:30 a.m. worship and the Rev. Dr. C. Dennis Williams of Brookins Community A. M. E. Church will preach at 3:30 p.m.

"We invite members, former members, and the entire surrounding community to join in this gala event and make this a real homecoming occasion. Our theme is ‘Sixty-five Years of Service - Reclaiming and Moving Ahead' taken from Philippians 3:13," said Milton Smith, Anniversary chair

"Over the last 65 years God has blessed Lewis Metropolitan C. M. E. Church with dynamic and awesome pastors, many dedicated officers and members who have labored tirelessly to secure a witness for God on the corner of 49th and Western Avenue. Please plan to join us in celebrating," added Emily M. Jones, Anniversary co-chair.

Choirs from both churches will provide the music for the celebratory event. Also, a light lunch will be served from 1:45 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. in the C. E. Mitchell Fellowship Hall.
