NATIONAL ANIMAL CONTROL OFFICER APPRECIATION WEEK
CELEBRATED IN LOS ANGELES COUNTY

If you still think they’re the dog catchers, the County of Los Angeles Department of Animal Care and Control (DACC) invites you to take a moment this week—during National Animal Control Officer Appreciation Week—to rethink about the role animal control officers play within the community.

Each day, DACC’s animal control officers go out into the field to protect the lives of residents (and animals) of all unincorporated areas of Los Angeles County and 52 contract cities. As the largest animal control agency in the nation, DACC’s officers provide emergency response services during natural disasters, enforce state and local animal control laws, educate the public about responsible pet ownership through outreach and intervention, and provide care and shelter for nearly 90,000 homeless animals each year.

Animal Control Officers from County animal care centers will be at the Board of Supervisors meeting on Tuesday, April 9, 2013, to accept a scroll, proclaiming the week of April 7th-13th as National Animal Control Officer Appreciation Week throughout Los Angeles County.
