The inspiring film, starring Oscar nominees and recording artists Queen Latifah and Dolly Parton, will have viewers laughing, singing, teary-eyed and feeling optimistic about life despite challenges times. The movie also features actors KeKe Palmer, Courtney Vance, and Jeremy Jordan in significant roles.
All ages will enjoy and appreciate the ups and downs experienced by the small-town Divinity Church Choir as they seek to win the ‘National Joyful Noise Competition.'
The storyline revolves around Vi Rose Hill (Latifah), the new traditionalist choir director, and G.G. Sparrow (Parton), a woman who is always ready to try something new. Naturally, the women clash and blast each other with hilarious one-liners.
Adding to the tension are Olivia (Palmer), Vi's daughter, and Randy (Jordan), G.G.'s grandson, who are attracted to each other. In the midst of all these sparks is Pastor Dale (Vance), who seeks to calm the fiery sparks as well as maintain the church's financial footing.
In the opinion of this viewer, ‘Joyful Noise' has a positive and uplifting message of hope and love that crosses all religious, cultural and ethnic lines. The characters reflect real people with real problems that audiences will easily recognize and could possibly be experiencing themselves.
