Jasir Franklin, owner of California Ticket Masters a ticket clinic on Crenshaw, said his philosophy is this:
“Educating yourself (when it comes to fighting tickets is the best self defense)”
Franklin will open up his Ticket Master booth for the first time at Taste of Soul on October 19. He is offering a more than 50% discount for those who sign up for his Ticket Master Academy, normally $300.00. The value however, is so much more than that he said.
“We believe that there is no ticket you can’t get dismissed with the proper education,” said Franklin via his website, www.caticketmasters.com.
“Nearly all traffic or parking cases are lost because of the public’s lack of knowledge of the law. Let’s face it, how many people actually have a Penal Code or a Vehicle code book in your personal library? Not very many people can say that they do.
“Over 90% of all the ticket cases result in license suspension or a hold on registration because the person didn’t respond to the tickets. Why is that? The number one reason is FEAR! Fear of what they will have to pay or what if the judge will do the day of court. Have you ever experienced the wrath of a bully? How did you overcome that fear? Some people call on an older sibling. Some people take self defense classes like Karate. Once they received the sensei’s approval they will not be as scared of that bully again…”
Franklin started CTM about three years ago. He himself had been bullied by traffic courts here and decided to fight back.
“I decided to figure out how this stuff works,” the native Angeleno told the Sentinel during a recent interview.
“I went to the law library in downtown L.A. and studied some codes. I got some help from a friend of mine who gave me some guidance. I went to court and beat all of my tickets. Since then, I was doing it for friends and family members. But I felt more people needed the information so I decided to offer it.”
He explains it like this.
“Traffic tickets are a multi-billion dollar industry. They have virtually nothing to do with highway safety, but they have everything to do with money. When you begin to grasp the full magnitude of the public and private interests that depend on ripping off motorists through traffic tickets, you begin to understand why this unethical system continues to expand every year.
“No one knows how many traffic tickets are actually issued. Many local units of government deliberately hide this information so they don’t have to split their traffic ticket revenue with the state. Not including parking tickets, we can estimate that somewhere between 25 and 50 million traffic tickets are issued each year. Assuming an average ticket cost of $150.00, the total up front profit from tickets ranges from 3.75 to 7.5 billion dollars…”
CTM is the only company offering people information that they are taking and using over and over again, he said.
“The law doesn’t change. You just have to use it. We’re giving people information they need pretty much for the rest of their lives,”

Oh, and they don’t help people with legitimate tickets like DUIs or speeding.
