Unique celebration of gospel to offer information at TOS
Verizon’s unique celebration of Gospel music ‘How Sweet The Sound’ will have a distribution presence at the 8th annual ‘Taste of Soul’ in advance of the finale at the Nokia Theatre in downtown Los Angeles on November 2.
For the past six years, ‘How Sweet The Sound’ has sought out the best Gospel singing groups and choirs in states throughout the United States and the competition has evolved into a national sensation for fans, churches and choirs who aspire to win the $50,000 first prize.
Hosted by Grammy-winning producer, composer and recording artist Donald Lawrence who is one of the most influential figures in modern gospel music, Verizon’s ‘How Sweet The Sound’ has also managed to secure the award winning and stunningly beautiful Yolanda Adams as co-host.
Ever since her late-’80s debut ‘Just As I Am’, Adams has triumphantly carried the torch for contemporary gospel and inspirational music via 12 glorious albums.
The exceptionally educated, filled with the spirit and blessed Adams has one of the most powerful voices in any genre of music.
Her presence and brand recognition has further solidified ‘How Sweet the Sound’s’ stronghold on discovering the untapped gospel music in America.
“I am here because of Donald and what he stands for,” Adams told the Sentinel. “Verizon is committed to partner in a major way and it’s a huge production.”
Adams told the Sentinel that, “it’s hard to look at these groups and not remember when I started out at 13 and think ‘wow, just how beautiful this is.’”
Adams, a Houston-native and one-time school teacher has been a stately beacon of God’s light, after a stint as music director for soul legend Stephanie Mills and Lawrence made his mark in the gospel world by reshaping the regional Tri-City Singers in the 1990s and transforming them into an internationally acclaimed choir.
“Verizon’s How Sweet The Sound is a truly amazing celebration of gospel music! It’s not only touched my life, but the lives of each and every choir that graces the stage,” Lawrence said.
The show is back for its 6th joyous and inspiring year. This season ‘How Sweet The Sound’ will continue the mission of celebrating the very best in gospel music, and anyone can be a part of it. If your choir is interested, you can register now for a chance to win over $50,000 in cash and prizes. And to sweeten the deal, this year’s top choir will win an opportunity to record with How Sweet the Sound/eOne Music, so you can spread the joy and share your glorious talents with the world.
