Leonard Pitts, Jr. 

Pulitzer Prize writer Leonard Pitts, Jr., headlines the Men's Prayer Breakfast hosted by Second A.M.E. Church on Saturday, November 2, at 9:30 a.m., in the edifice at 5500 South Hoover Street in Los Angeles.

Pastor John E. Cager and Men's Ministry Chairman Keith L. Pitts welcome the community to attend and hear Leonard Pitts speak on the theme ‘Jesus Bless the Children’ based on Matthew 19:13-15. Also, he will sign copies of his latest book, ‘Freeman.’

A native of Southern California, Pitts graduated from Fremont High School in 1974 and USC in 1977. Currently a columnist for the Miami Herald newspaper, he won the Pulitzer Prize for commentary in 2004.

As an author, his works include ‘Before I Forget,’ ‘Forward From this Moment: Selected Columns 1994-2009,’ ‘Daily Triumphs, Tragedies, and Curiosities,’ and ‘Becoming Dad: Black Men and the Journey to Fatherhood.’  Pitts has also been a college professor, a radio producer and a lecturer during his 35-year career.
