Marguerite Poindexter LaMotte, LAUSD Board Member
Sunrise July 17, 1933 – Sunset December 5, 2013
The family of Marguerite Poindexter LaMotte sincerely appreciates the acts of kindness, words of comfort and support; expressions of sympathy, cards, flowers, and the enormous outpouring of love, respect, accolades, resolutions, and tributes, that you all have extended in honor of Marguerite. Those of you who took time to pay your respects to her at Angelus Funeral Home, Los Angeles, and those who stood so patiently waiting to enter the St. Brigid Church on Saturday, December 21, 2013 for the “Family and Close Friends” services, touched our hearts. It has all been truly overwhelming and we remain forever grateful.
Sincere gratitude and love to all of our friends at St. Brigid Parish, Los Angeles, including Father William L. Norvel who traveled from Baltimore to be with us. Thank you to all who volunteered their service out of love, or offered to speak and voice their love for Marguerite. There were so many close friends, across this nation, who had been touched by Marguerite…honestly, we were amazed.
Our deepest appreciation goes to all who serve in the Los Angeles Unified School Districts, especially those in District 1 Schools, including Principals and Staff Members and the loyal, dedicated District 1 Field Office Staff. We know that you all will continue to build on the legacy that “Ms. LaMotte” fostered with parents and students and community leaders, as you fulfill her lifelong passion of teaching and caring for “the babies.”
