With a talent roster that reads like a who’s who of industry greats, Dr. Holly Carter has made a name for herself in the highly political environment of the Hollywood landscape. Carter is the CEO and founder of Relevé Entertainment, called one of the premier management and production companies for family and faith inspired content. A fifteen-year industry veteran, her career began in television casting (“The Fresh Prince of Bel Air,” “Roc,” and “Martin”).
Inspired by a passion for artist development, she transitioned into talent representation. Upon landing her first superstar client, Usher, her company expanded into management, music and branding. Her television producer credits include “The Sheards” (BET Networks) and Oxygen’s breakout hit, “Preachers of L.A.” She also created and executive produced BET’s “106 & Gospel” and packaged the hit Nickelodeon series “Romeo!” starring Romeo Miller, with Tommy Lynch. On the film side, Carter packaged and produced in partnership with Rainforest Films, the groundbreaking faith-based feature film The Gospel (Sony Screen Gems) starring Idris Elba and Boris Kodjoe, In the Mix (Lions gate) starring Usher Raymond, Mama I Want to Sing, starring Lynn Whitfield, Hill Harper and R&B hit maker, Ciara, and A Beautiful Soul, starring Deitrick Haddon and Harry Lennix.
During her tenure, she has also helped to develop the careers of award winning gospel artists Kirk Franklin, Donnie McClurkin, Cece Winans, Mary Mary, Kierra Sheard, and Deitrick Haddon, among other artists that include Michelle Williams and Mali Music.
Carter’s mantra is, “I don’t want to just create content and build careers, but rather, I want to create a movement of believers in every aspect of entertainment who influence culture in a way that inspires change, hope and redemption. It’s no longer church as usual, it’s about the kingdom.”
A Los Angeles native, wife and mother of two, Carter holds a Bachelors of Arts degree in Communications with a minor in Spanish from Cal State San Bernardino. She also holds an MBA from the University of Southern California’s Marshall School of Business with an emphasis in Marketing and Entertainment. Finally, Carter earned a Doctorate of Ministry from the Southern California School of Ministry.
“One of our many goals for this year’s production is centered on uplifting communities and bringing change to disenfranchised youth,” she said.
“We will address issues of poverty, Gang Violence, Homelessness, and Hopelessness. Our goal is not to just focus on the problems, but help find some solutions. We will be working with agencies and leaders in the community who have a track record of success and hopefully, affect change through media.”
In 2008, Carter produced then-Senator Barack Obama’s 2008 “Embrace the Change Tour”, a three day, and multi-city gospel concert series in the Carolinas promoting the then-candidate’s presidential campaign. She dedicates her work to her mother and father who she recently lost, for giving her a strong Christian foundation and thanks God for a close and loving family. “Through it all, I remain humble and thankful,” said Carter.
