Metro and Walsh/Shea Corridor Constructors (WSCC) will host the first construction update meeting of 2014 on Thursday evening, Feb. 20, to provide the community with the latest information about the Crenshaw/LAX Transit Project.
The meeting is open to the public and starts at 6 p.m. at Angeles Mesa Elementary School, 2611 West 52nd St., Los Angeles, 90043.
The Crenshaw/LAX Transit Project is one of 12 major transit projects funded by Measure R, the half-cent sales tax approved by Los Angeles County voters in 2008. The project is also receiving other federal, state and local funds.
The meeting will provide updates on several issues related to the light-rail project such as the design/built process, advance utility relocation activities, building demolition, potholing along Crenshaw Boulevard, the tree pruning and removal plan and the Tesoro Oil Gas Line relocation.
There also will be an update on the old railroad track removal on the southern alignment, between 67th Street and Aviation Boulevard.
WSCC will provide advance information of the design and construction schedule upcoming construction activities, station box construction at Exposition and MLK stations and pile installation.
The Metro systemwide Station Design and Art Program also will be presented and the Los Angeles Department of Transportation will provide an update on the parking study. Metro staff from the Project Labor Agreement will provide an update on the job program.

The new light-rail line will serve the Crenshaw Corridor, Inglewood, Westchester and the area around Los Angeles International Airport with eight stations, a maintenance facility and park-and-ride lots.
The eight new stations will be located at Expo/Crenshaw (underground), Crenshaw/Martin Luther King (underground), Crenshaw/Vernon in Leimert Park (underground), Crenshaw/Slauson, Florence/West, Florence/La Brea (downtown Inglewood), Florence/Hindry and Aviation/Century (LAX).
