Holman HBCU Summit

Holman United Methodist Church will host a community educational summit on Saturday, March 8, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., to introduce students and parents to the benefits of attending a Historically Black College or University (HBCU).

The free event will include displays and representatives from Bowie State University, Lincoln University, Missouri, and Spelman College. Financial aid and scholarship information will be available. Students will be able to apply for four scholarships. Also, a step show will take place.

“We encourage local high school students, community college students, and graduates of historically Black colleges and universities to attend,” said Pastor Kelvin Sauls.

“Students and parents will have the opportunity to meet the HBCUs staff and collect literature that highlights important features of each institution, learn about college tours and participate in a financial aid workshop for seniors and transferring students.”

An RSVP is required to attend the hands-on financial aid workshop at 4 p.m.  Attendees must bring verification of family income such as 2013 Federal Income Tax returns, W-2 forms, pay stubs, or any record of earned income as well as current bank statements and records of investments.

Holman UMC is located at 3320 West Adams Boulevard in Los Angeles.  For information or to register for the event, call Mrs. Ann Ratliff at (323) 731-7285 or email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. .
