Boxing is seldom been a sport that popularized it’s good guys.

As great as Muhammad Ali was, it was his draft dodging, religion and threats of prison that propelled him into an international and global icon that he is today.

Jack Johnson defied the laws of racial segregation. Mike Tyson overcame the bowels of the ghetto and then bit a man’s ear off in the ring. He wore black shorts, no socks or robe and scowled at his frightened opponent.

Today, there appears to be more good guys in the sport of boxing than ever before. Men who have real lives, stay off the police blotter, run for political office in their native land, but the one who sits at the top of the mountain totes bags flush with millions, gambles $10 million on the Super Bowl and allows fans to pick his opponent via social media.

Then there is Tim Bradley, the undefeated WBO welterweight champion who will be facing one of the top two most popular fighters in the world in Manny Pacquiao on April 12 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena and live on HBO Pay Per View.

Bradley, 30-0 with 12 KOs, is the No. 3 ranked pound for pound fighter in the world behind Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Andre Ward.

You undoubtedly know who Money is. He does everything to make sure you do. You may know who Andre Ward is.

It’s time that you get to know who Tim Bradley is.

Bradley is 30 years old compared to Pacquiao who is 35 and Mayweather who is 37.

He was awarded a controversial split decision victory over Pacquiao nearly two years ago at the MGM Grand. One that sent both Bradley and Pacquiao in opposite directions.

Instead of fighting Bradley in a rematch, citing lack of interest from the fans, Pacquiao fought Juan Manuel Marquez and got cold clocked in the 6th round in December 2012 almost closing the chapter on his career.

Bradley fought brutal brawler Ruslan Provodnikov at the Home Depot Center in Carson in what turned out to be a taxing physical beating that also raised concerns about his future.

Bradley followed that up with a convincing victory against Marquez to set up the rematch with Pacquiao.

Even his own trainer Joel Diaz doesn’t feel that Bradley can win another decision over Pacquiao, because of his enormous popularity.

If this were a popularity contest, Bradley would not win.

However, it’s not a popularity contest, but the young man who hails from Cathedral City near Palm Springs and earned the nickname Desert Storm could catapult to the front of the line with a convincing victory over Pacquiao.

Bradley has already defeated Devin Alexander, Lamont Peterson and Kendal Holt. Check to see if any of these names on Mayweather’s resume.

While most boxing fans plead for Mayweather to fight Pacquiao, you will not hear them shout for Tim Bradley.

Pacquiao and Mayweather may have been the sexy match-up a few years ago, but by the time they do meet in the ring it will be a battle of grumpy old men.

Tim Bradley has never fought just for money. He fights because he loves to fight. If it means he will have to take a brutal beating to get to you then so be it. When he resorts to fighting a smart fight, they say he’s running.

All of a sudden what Mayweather was once of accused of is now called art when Money does it, but Bradley is running?

Tim Bradley is a model husband, never had a bad relationship with his father who is still on his team today.

He has never been arrested. Doesn’t gamble. He is humble by his wealth and doesn’t flaunt it. He is a man of the community where he lives, and is a real fighter.

Boxing is not entertainment to him, it’s war and Manny Pacquiao better be ready for it!
