The Southern Section boys team is banking on Bishop Montgomery's Justin Bibbins and McDonalds All American Thomas Welsh of Loyola and four other D-1 recruits to draw even against the City Section boys in the 16 annual Collision All Star Games April 19 at Redondo Union High School.

Welch will become the first McDonalds All American to participate in the annual affair pitting the City versus the Southern Section. Joining Welch on the Southern squad coach by Brentwood’s Ryan “Moose” Bailey and Loyola’s Jamal Adams, will be Missouri bound Namon Wright of Pacific Hills, USC recruit Malik Marquetti of Millikan and Long Beach State recruits  Bibbins of Bishop Montgomery and Jack Williams of Chaminade.  Open All CIF and John Wooden Award Player of the Year winner Bibbins led Bishop Montgomery to the D-4 State championship, capping a remarkable career.

Open Al CIF choice Ian Fox of Redondo Union and Terrell Carter will be joined by Bedhart Ghani (Loyola), Joey Covarubias Cantwell Sacred Heart and Brian Beard 5’9 of Orange.

Meanwhile, the Southern girls which have dominated their City rivals to the tune of 12-3 in the history of Collision, will be led by four ALL CIF-Southern Section Player of the Year in Janelle Odionu (D-4 AA) Bishop Montgomery, Alyssa Benton  (D-1) Millikan, Drew Cabral (D-4) Brentwood and Michelle Curry (D-2 A) Culver City.

Additionally, the Southern Girls roster could be the tallest in the history of the event touting at least five players 6’0 or taller, including St. Bernard’s 6’2 Chenelle Pelle, 6’0 Ella Stepanian of Crescenta Valley, Long Beach Poly’s Jada Matthews and Redondo Union’s 6’1 Tatiana Maimot.

That’s not all, the Serra’s coach McKinsey Hadley will also have the services of Serra stars Caila Haley (Washington State) and Cydney Bolton, Mira Costa’s dynamic All CIF selection Camille Mills and Lynwood’s Priscilla Lopez.

The City Boys lead the Southern Boys 8-7 and the Southern Girls have dominated their city rivals 12-3. The girl’s game will tip at 5:30p.m. and the boy’s game will begin at 7p.m. Tickets are $10.
