The celebration of the resurrection of Christ brought more than 12,000 people to the’ Easter at the Forum’ service sponsored by Bishop Kenneth C. Ulmer and the Faithful Central Bible Church.

The powerful worship experience featured a multi-media presentation highlighted with actors from the FCBC Repertory Company, music by the FCBC choir and praise team, and liturgical dance by the Faithful Dance Company.

In the dramatic and reverent production, the FCBC team depicted Jesus’ prayer in the Garden of Gethsemane, triumphal entry in Jerusalem, betrayal by Judas, crucifixion on a life-size cross, burial preparation, arrival at the empty tomb and His ascension.

“I’m so excited about being here at Faithful Central for Resurrection Sunday.  Just to think of Jesus dying and giving His life and His blood for us, it makes me emotional and I’m so appreciative to God for giving His Son,” said recording artist Tamela Mann, a special guest along with gospel hit maker, Fred Hammond.

“I just hope the people will get what they need to help them along the way and just remember what this day is about, the resurrection of Jesus.  I’m excited to hear the Word and just excited to be a part,” said Mann, who sang ‘Take Me to the King’ as she portrayed a follower of Christ during the presentation.

Explaining why the service was held at the Forum, Bishop Ulmer said, “Our goal is to attract unchurched people.  Most churches are crowded on Easter Sunday, then the next Sunday, you are back where you started or you’re wondering where those people are.

“Our emphasis today is to bring people back after today to be a part of what we’re doing and part of the things that God is doing in our community, in our church and in the kingdom.  We are trying to intentionally and deliberately reach people who don’t go to church,” he insisted.

Bishop Ulmer shared that the worship service also offered many people an opportunity to see the newly renovated Forum and witness the results of the collaboration between Madison Square Garden, the Forum and the community.

“This partnership with the Forum is about working together to build relationships that benefit the community as a whole,” he said, adding that FCBC plans to hold Easter and New Year’s Eve services at the venue every year.

“We’re expecting a lot of people here today to see what God is doing in our community through this building and of course, to experience the glory of the kingdom of God.”
