Pastor Gailen & Lady Cathy Reevers

Lincoln Memorial Congregational Church, United Church of Christ will celebrate the 20th Anniversary of Pastor Gailen and First Lady Cathy Reevers with two events.

Festivities begin with a banquet on Friday, June 6, at 7 p.m., at the Sheraton Gateway Hotel, 6110 West Century Boulevard in Los Angeles.  The ticket donation is $75.

On Sunday, June 8, at 11 a.m., the celebration concludes at Lincoln Memorial Church, located at 4126 South Arlington Avenue in Los Angeles.  The guest preacher will be the Rev. Ben Prince of Detroit, MI. Also, the Lincoln choir and band will render musical selections.

The Rev. Reevers became pastor of Lincoln Memorial in 1995.  Under his supervision, the Lincoln Family Life Center was established and a range of community outreach programs including a youth mentoring program, a health and safety ministry, and a SAT Prep Camp.

In 2012, Lincoln Memorial and the Lincoln Family Life Center united with the Academy of Science and Engineering to open a charter high school with state of the art facilities to prepare students to excel in science, technology, engineering and math.  Also, Pastor Reevers and the church began discussions with KIPP Scholar Academy to open a middle school on Lincoln campus.

Mrs. Reevers serves as Sunday School Superintendent and directs the Vacation Bible School Program. The Reevers are the parents of two adult children, Justin and Gailen II, who are also active in the church.
