BET partners with Baldwin Hills Crenshaw Plaza to bring fun for the whole family
Marsha Ambrosius headlined at the Baldwin Hills Crenshaw Plaza (BHCP) this past weekend for one of four concerts the Plaza is hosting as part of the “Road to the BET Experience.”
Saturday, June 7, hundreds of people converged on the Plaza in front of the Rave Cinema where a huge stage was set up for the festivities. Kesington Kross, Antonique Smith, and Candice each took a turn entertaining the crowd before Ambrosius hit the stage. All of the singers got plenty of local love as they performed in front of the crowd made up of Crenshaw residents of all ages.
Grammy Award-winning artist, Neyo revved up the crowd when he came out to introduce his newly signed singer, Candice. The up-and-coming R&B crooner was received well by the audience, performing a song from her latest project “The Smokers Room.”
Antonique Smith, known well for her portrayal of Faith Evans in the 2009 film “Notorious,” showed off her powerful vocals with a beautiful cover of the late Whitney Houston’s “I Believe in You and Me.”
Ambrosius gave fans a great show performing hits, new and old. Full of energy, in addition to her own songs, the singer thrilled the crowd with covers of old favorites such as Bell Biv DeVoe’s “Poison.”
“The Road to the BET Experience” is building anticipation for the second annual BET Experience at L.A. Live. The event will take place June 27– 29 and feature concerts, a celebrity basketball tournament, panel discussions, and of course the BET Awards. You can also catch Marsha Ambrosius at the BET Experience in concert June 27th at the Staples Center along with Maxwell and Jill Scott.
“The Road to the BET Experience” is in full swing. Don’t miss the fun of this unique partnership as BHCP and BET bring the community together for afternoons of free family fun.
Next on the line-up are Ravaughn, Mila J, and Dondria who will be performing this coming Saturday, June 14 at 3pm at BHCP. June 21 will be the final concert of the series and will be headlined by Eric Benet. For more info check out www.lasentinel.net
