Joining the nation's observance of the 10th anniversary of September 11, 2001, Christ Our Redeemer A.M.E. Church will honor Orange County public safety staff that volunteered in New York City during that tragic event.

"A decade ago, we witnessed a horrendous tragedy in the life of this country, yet many overcame their horror and rushed to provide assistance. The Orange County Sheriff's Department, O.C. Fire Department, and the Irvine Police Department were among those that responded and the members of Christ Our Redeemer (COR) want to acknowledge their contributions," said Pastor Mark Whitlock.

"On September 11, at 10:30 a.m., we will recognize these brave and selfless men and women to show how much we appreciate their commitment to serve. The entire greater Los Angeles area is invited to join us on this occasion," he said.

The service will include praise and worship, music by the COR Choir, and a special message by Pastor Whitlock. Also, designated honorees will deliver remarks and a reception will be held following the service.

Christ Our Redeemer, one of the largest churches in Orange County, has a multi-cultural congregation exceeding 2,600. Several ministries are available to members as well as the community including financial literacy, mortgage and housing workshops, and health awareness seminars.

On September 14, 21 and 28, COR will sponsor a free Job Resources and Career Expo to prepare individuals to secure and maintain employment. The sessions, held at COR Church at 9 a.m., will instruct attendees on resume writing, interviewing skills, work attire, establishing a business and writing a business plan. The Director of Human Resources for Fox Entertainment Studios and established business advisors will teach each class.

Christ Our Redeemer A.M.E. Church is located at 45 Maxwell Street in Irvine. For information about its activities, call (949) 955-0014 or visit corchurch.org.
