Tau Gamma Delta Sorority Elects Local Woman to Lead

L.A. resident Jessie Freeman elected as Tau Gamma Delta Sorority National President.

Los Angeles, Calif. -- Members of the Tau Gamma Delta Sorority, Inc. recently elected Los Angeles resident, Jessie Freeman to the position of National President. Freeman was elected to the post during the sorority’s 53rd national convention held in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She is the third person from California elected to serve in this prestigious position following in the footsteps of Thelma Ballard (958-1962, Sacramento) and Annette I. Welford (1986-1990, Los Angeles). She is the organization’s 17th national president.

Tau Gamma Delta Sorority was founded at Lewis Business College, Detroit Michigan in 1951. Its membership consists of professional and businesswomen with chapters located in cities from coast to coast.

Freeman, who is a member of the Los Angeles chapter Rho attended the recent Scholarship Luncheon held in May. She says of her election, “It was a privilege and honor for me to accept the leadership role to this fantastic organization and the women who make up its membership.”
